BAGHDAD, Iraq โ Iraq's General Directorate of Meteorology said on Monday that the country will see its characteristic sunny and hot summer weather in the coming days, with the country under the influence of a seasonal thermal low-pressure system.
The agency reported that temperatures are expected to remain close to those recorded the previous day, with hot and at times very hot conditions during daytime hours and a stifling effect felt especially around midday. It added that temperatures will ease somewhat in the early morning and at night.
Officials urged the public to avoid direct sun exposure during midday hours, drink sufficient water and monitor the condition of elderly people and those with chronic illnesses amid above-average seasonal temperatures. The directorate said wind speeds will remain moderate over the coming days and that dust transport will be limited.
