The Iraqi Meteorological Authority has issued a weather forecast for Saturday, May 30, 2026, projecting rising temperatures across much of the country alongside generally clear to partly cloudy skies. While most regions will experience stable conditions, light rainfall is expected in mountainous areas.
Temperature trends will vary by region, with slight increases anticipated in the central and northern provinces. Conversely, southern regions are expected to see a marginal decline in temperatures.
Forecasted highs for Saturday include 28°C in Sulaymaniyah, 29°C in Duhok, 30°C in Erbil, 32°C in Mosul, and 33°C in Kirkuk. Central provinces, including Baghdad, Salah al-Din, Anbar, and Diyala, are expected to reach 34°C.
Southern and central-southern cities will experience the highest heat, with Karbala reaching 35°C, Wasit and Babil at 36°C, and Najaf, Dhi Qar, and Muthanna at 37°C. Diwaniyah and Basra are forecast to record the highest temperatures in the country at 38°C.
