Iraqi forces kill three ISIS members in Nineveh desert

NINEVEH, Iraq — The Popular Mobilization Forces said Tuesday evening that three ISIS members were killed in a security operation in the Nineveh desert. The force said the target was a group of ISIS remnants in the Baaj desert. The Nineveh Operations Command said the operation was a tightly coordinated and specialized effort carried out under its supervision. A security source in Nineveh said the operation was conducted by Popular Mobilization Forces units. The same source said surveillance of ISIS elements in desert and remote areas is continuing. The source also described the operation as retaliation for members of the counterterrorism service who died in recent days. The clashes ended with three ISIS members killed, according to the source.
