The Iraq Football Federation's Disciplinary Committee has awarded a 3-0 victory to Polis after ruling that Meysan Petrol fielded an ineligible player during their match.
The decision follows a formal protest by Polis, which alleged that Yemeni player Ahmed es-Saruri violated foreign player regulations by failing to make an official appearance for the Yemen national team in the last three years.
Polis earns two additional points from the ruling, bringing their total to 78 points and narrowing the gap with league leaders Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya, who remain at 83 points.
Meysan Petrol has denounced the decision as unfair and announced its intention to appeal the ruling.
The disciplinary action significantly alters the championship race as the league enters its final two weeks.
