Iraqi education ministry approves support grants for 468 teachers

BAGHDAD, Iraq — Iraq's Ministry of Education has approved support grant payments for 468 educators during the second session of the Educators' Central Health and Social Support Fund. The decision was reached by vote, with the fund's president, Education Minister Abdulkarim Abtan al-Jubouri, participating alongside fund members, the ministry said in a statement. According to the ministry, the 468 approved files cover educators based in different cities. Processing of the applications was completed by the relevant directorates general for education before being forwarded to the fund. The ministry said the approvals fall into several categories: 459 files involving surgical operations, one classified as an exception, two for fire-related incidents, three for marriage, and three for creativity. Fund members voted during the regular meeting to disburse the amounts owed to the approved applicants.
