BAGHDAD, Iraq โ Iraq's Counter-Terrorism Service (CTS) detained a senior leader of the Hezbollah Iraq movement, known in Arabic as Harakat Hezbollah al-Nujaba, in a raid in Dhi Qar province in the country's south, a security source said.
According to the source, a CTS force deployed from Baghdad raided a house in the Fudayliyah subdistrict near the provincial capital Nasiriyah and arrested the head of the movement's reconnaissance unit. The detainee was described as one of the highest-ranking officials in the group.
The suspect was transferred to Baghdad to complete investigative procedures, the source added.
No official statement has been released regarding the raid or the arrest. Further details were not immediately available.
