Iraqi Counter-Terrorism Service Launches Multi-Province Operation Against ISIL

The Iraqi Counter-Terrorism Service (CTS) launched a comprehensive security operation on Wednesday targeting remaining ISIL cells and hideouts across nine provinces. The mission utilizes intelligence-led operations supported by coordinated aerial and ground surveillance. Security forces conducted extensive sweeps across the western deserts of Mosul, Salah al-Din, the Najaf desert, Anbar, Wasit, Diyala, Dhi Qar, Maysan, and the desert regions of Basra. The operation incorporates specialized K9 units and underwater engineering teams to clear suspected militant infrastructure. Iraqi security officials stated that the campaign aims to consolidate territorial control and enhance public safety measures in these regions. The deployment serves as a strategic effort to neutralize residual insurgent threats and prevent the re-emergence of militant activity.
