BAGHDAD, Iraq โ€” Iraq's Commission on Integrity said on Monday that electrical materials worth 2 billion Iraqi dinars were stolen from a branch of the state Electricity Distribution Company in Diyala province. The commission said the discovery was made by its Diyala investigation office. According to the commission, investigators compared warehouse storage and transfer records covering 2022 to 2025 with the company's inventory system. The review found that items listed in two documents had been received by an authorized party but were never entered into the warehouse records. The investigation identified four company employees as responsible for the theft of equipment valued at 2,001,494,000 dinars, the commission said. The four were taken into custody. The commission added that the audit was carried out in the presence of the company's Diyala representatives and that the suspects, along with the seized evidence, were referred to a Baghdad Baquba investigative court judge. It said the necessary legal proceedings have been initiated.
