Iraq arrests man for running unlicensed parking lot on state land in Mosul

BAGHDAD, Iraq — Iraq's Federal Commission of Integrity announced the arrest of a man accused of operating an unauthorized parking lot on a state-owned plot in the right bank of Mosul. The commission said the suspect was detained by its Nineveh Investigation Directorate after a judicial arrest warrant was obtained. According to investigation records, the suspect had been charging fees for vehicles parked on the land in front of the Mosul Traffic Directorate without any legal permit or official contract, in what the commission described as a scheme for personal gain. The Mosul Investigation Court, which handles corruption cases, ruled that the suspect be detained under Decision No. 2001/154. The cited decision sets the framework for removing unlawful uses of state-owned real estate and pursuing legal action against those responsible. The commission did not immediately release the suspect's name or additional details about the case.
