BAGHDAD, Iraq โ Iraq's air force carried out two airstrikes against an ISIS hideout in the Zogeytun Valley in Kirkuk on Friday evening, the Security Media Cell said. The strikes were conducted by F-16 fighter jets as part of ongoing operations in the province, the cell said in a statement.
The operation was based on intelligence provided by the Military Intelligence Directorate, which tracked the movement of ISIS elements at one of the valley's hideouts, according to the statement. The runs were carried out by the Air Force under the direct supervision and coordination of the Targeting Cell attached to the Office of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces.
The hideout was destroyed and all militants inside were killed, the Security Media Cell said. The statement added that the operation reflects the continuing commitment of the Iraqi army to pursuing ISIS remnants in the country. No further details were immediately available.
