BAGHDAD, Iraq โ€” Iraq's Ministry of Justice said it secured a final ruling in its favor from the Amman Court of Appeal in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, ordering a Jordanian company to pay compensation to the state-run Southern Refineries Company under the Ministry of Oil. According to the ministry, the court found the defendant company had failed to meet obligations under a contract signed between the two parties in 2011. The ruling requires the company to pay damages to Southern Refineries. The ministry's Legal Affairs Department followed the case through the Jordanian judicial process until the final judgment was issued, the statement said. It added that the ministry coordinates with relevant state institutions to track cases abroad and recover rights in line with applicable legal frameworks. The ministry described the outcome as part of the government's effort to safeguard public assets and defend the state's rights overseas. No further details on the amount of compensation were immediately available.
