Iraq top market for Turkish pulses and grains exports in July

ANKARA, Turkey — Iraq became the largest single market for Turkey's pulses, grains, oilseeds and related product exports in July, according to data from the Mediterranean Exporters' Union for Cereals, Pulses, Oilseeds and Products. Exports in the category rose 13% year on year to about $173.5 million during the month. Pulses led the product breakdown at $36.3 million, or a 22% share of the category's July exports. Vegetable oils followed at $35.8 million, with flour-based products at $32.8 million, the data showed. Iraq has long been among Turkey's main destinations for food exports, alongside Iran and Syria. Turkish companies are working to strengthen their competitiveness in grains, pulses and vegetable oils as they seek to expand their presence in foreign markets and open new ones, the exporters' union said.
