Iraq to see highs between 42-48°C through the week, meteorology office says

BAGHDAD, Iraq — Iraq's Meteorological Organization said on Monday that temperatures are set to rise across the country this week, with daytime highs ranging between 42°C and 48°C. The agency forecast clear and hot weather on Tuesday, with moderate northwesterly winds reaching 40 km/h during the day, raising dust in parts of the central and southern regions. Temperatures will rise by several degrees in the capital area and the north, while remaining similar to the previous day in the south, according to the forecast. Wednesday is expected to bring continued clear skies and light-to-moderate winds nationwide, with a slight increase in central and southern areas and steady conditions in the north. On Thursday, temperatures will dip slightly in the central region while staying unchanged in the north and south. Friday will remain clear across Iraq, with a mild rise in the central region and similar levels elsewhere. The Meteorological Organization did not provide additional details on the duration of the heatwave.
