BAGHDAD, Iraq โ€” Iraq's Border Ports Committee said 1,905 officers, civil servants and personnel stationed at air, sea and land crossings will be rotated between ports within 48 hours, acting on orders from the prime minister. The committee added that sonar devices at the border crossings are being handed over to the General Directorate of Customs along with the relevant delivery documents, and that revenue generated from the equipment will be transferred directly to the customs authority. The committee said staffing needs at the newly opened Rbiye, Al-Waleed and Mosul Airport crossings will be covered under the rotation plan. It also said the withdrawal of committee-affiliated units from Kurdistan Region checkpoints, approved by the chief of staff, has been implemented, with those units handed over to the National Security Service under joint records. The committee said it will continue coordinating with relevant ministries and agencies to improve service quality, tighten oversight and track revenues at the crossings. It added that the new arrangements are designed to strengthen the supervisory and inspection role within the framework of existing laws. No further details on the timeline for completing the rotation were immediately available.
