Iraq to Launch Free Public Wi-Fi at Religious Sites and Shrines

Iraq’s Ministry of Communications will provide free internet access at major religious sites and shrines across the country starting next week. The initiative aims to improve digital connectivity and facilitate communication for pilgrims and visitors. The service will be available weekly on Thursdays and Fridays, as well as during official religious ceremonies. Access will be further extended to operate continuously from the first day of Muharrem through the end of the month of Safer. Minister of Communications Hayam Al-Yasiri stated that the project is designed to enhance the quality of services provided to visitors at these locations. The ministry is currently implementing broader infrastructure upgrades to modernize the digital capabilities of religious sites in various provinces.
