BAGHDAD, Iraq โ Iraq's Ministry of Construction, Housing and Municipalities said it will shortly launch an annual credit plan through the Housing Fund to support the housing sector, ministry spokesperson Estebrak Sabah told the official gazette. The plan allows citizens to build new homes or complete existing construction under favorable terms, the spokesperson said.
The ministry said processing continues for roughly 7,000 applicants whose submissions have been accepted since the start of 2026. Under the new framework, applications will be accepted only once a year, with submission days allocated to provinces on a rotating basis every four to five days according to a set schedule.
The fund offers interest-free loans, Sabah said, adding that during a four-day application window in February of last year, more than 26,000 loan applications were received. No further details on the launch date or loan terms were immediately available.
