BAGHDAD, Iraq โ€” Iraq temporarily closed its airspace to all civilian flights on Sunday following Iran's three-wave missile attacks on Israel, officials said. Mudhar Thamer, director of the air traffic division at the General Company for Air Navigation Services, said Iraqi airspace was fully evacuated of civilian aircraft on June 7, 2026. He credited air traffic controllers with carrying out the evacuation professionally. Thamer dismissed reports of civilian aircraft crashes or accidents as inaccurate. The civil aviation authority implemented the precautionary closure to all incoming, outgoing and transit flights amid the heightened regional tensions. The measure was set to remain in effect for 72 hours, according to the statement.
