Iraq table tennis federation confirms West Asia squad for Jordan championship

BAGHDAD, Iraq — Iraq's Table Tennis Federation announced that its national team will compete at the West Asia Team Championships, set to begin on August 12 in Amman, Jordan. Federation Secretary General Hivi Taha said the tournament will feature team events across multiple age categories for both men and women. The program includes under-19 women, under-15 women, under-11 mini girls, under-15 juniors, under-13 youth boys and under-11 mini boys. A group of national team players will also take part in individual competitions, Taha said. He added that the participation is intended to give young Iraqi players experience against regional teams. The federation aims to field as many athletes as possible from the younger age groups to widen the player base and prepare talent for the national squads.
