BAGHDAD, Iraq โ€” Iraq's national team has arrived in Philadelphia to continue preparations for its second 2026 FIFA World Cup group-stage match against France, scheduled for Monday night at the city's main stadium. The squad held its first training session in the city after the short trip from its base for the tournament. Iraq opened its World Cup campaign with a 4-1 defeat to Norway, a match in which Aymen Hussein scored a historic goal. The loss left Iraq without a point in Group A, sitting ninth on goal difference behind Senegal. The team faces France next before completing its group schedule. Defender Mihend Ali "Mimi" missed the session because of injury and is unlikely to be available against France. Ali Jasim, who took a blow to the neck during the Norway match, told the technical and medical staff that he is fit to play. Goalkeeper Jalal Hasan is also expected to return to the field. Head coach Graham Arnold told his players to replicate the performance they produced over the first 70 minutes against Norway. No further details on team selection were immediately available.
