Iraq sends condolences to Colombia after deadly western earthquake

BAGHDAD, Iraq — Iraq's Foreign Ministry said on Sunday that it stands in solidarity with Colombia following a powerful earthquake that struck parts of the country, expressing condolences to the Colombian government and people and wishing a swift recovery to the injured. The ministry added that Iraq is ready to provide any necessary support to help address the humanitarian consequences of the disaster. According to the Colombian government's official information, the earthquake's epicenter was located in western Colombia. The tremor was recorded at a magnitude of 7.4 on the Richter scale. Officials said at least 294 people were killed in the earthquake, with 320 others still reported missing. Search and rescue operations are continuing in the affected areas as international aid and solidarity messages continue to arrive. Iraq's statement comes amid a broader wave of international support directed at the Colombian cities worst hit by the disaster.
