BAGHDAD, Iraq โ Iraq's Anbar Narcotics Directorate said it seized 160,000 Captagon pills smuggled into the country by tanker from a neighboring state and arrested eight suspects in connection with the operation. In a written statement, the directorate said the drugs had been concealed inside the tanker in an attempt to enter Iraq, and that two suspects were initially detained.
According to the statement, security forces continued their investigation and surveillance, identifying other members of the smuggling network. Six additional suspects were taken into custody, bringing the total number of arrests to eight.
The directorate said the seized narcotics and the detained suspects have been referred to the relevant judicial authorities for prosecution. No further details were immediately available.
