Iraq says Development Road project design work 95% complete

BAGHDAD, Iraq — Iraq's Transport Minister Wahb al-Hasani met with parliament's Transport and Communications Committee on Tuesday to review the latest stage of the country's strategic infrastructure program. The Transport Ministry said design work on the Development Road project has reached 95% completion. During the meeting, ministry officials reported that technical and engineering phases of the project are proceeding according to the planned schedule. Discussions covered progress on logistics infrastructure, port connections and railway integration along the corridor. The ministry said the Development Road is being pursued to strengthen trade corridors and expand regional connectivity. Committee members received detailed briefings from the ministry on the project's implementation process. Both sides agreed to accelerate the work and strengthen coordination, according to the statement. Ministry officials said construction and tendering phases will follow once design work is finalized.
