Iraq's top judge conveys solidarity with Iran during Tehran visit

TEHRAN, Iran — TEHRAN — Iraq's Supreme Judicial Council President Faiq Zeydan said in Tehran that Iraq stands in solidarity with the Iranian government and people in the face of attacks on Iran by the United States and Israel. During a meeting with Iranian Judiciary Chief Gholamhossein Mohseni Ejei, Zeydan emphasized that Iran's support for Iraq, including from 2003 through the subsequent counterterrorism period, would not be forgotten. Zeydan called for the full implementation of judicial agreements between the two countries and condemned economic pressure on Iran. Ejei said cooperation between the two countries was deepening across all fields and that judicial relations were expanding. Zeydan also met with Iranian Supreme National Security Council Secretary Mohsen Rezaei, with both sides stressing the need for regional cooperation and joint border security. Rezaei said the United States has no place in the region's future and that the fate of anti-Iranian groups along Iran's borders must be determined. Zeydan was leading a high-level judicial delegation that traveled to Tehran at an official invitation to discuss joint cases.
