Google rolls out AI learning tools for students ahead of new school year

Google has announced new features for students on its search engine and Gemini AI platform ahead of the new academic year, the company said. The tools include AI-generated interactive visuals, three-dimensional simulations, a student-focused hub and personalized practice quizzes. The features are designed to position Gemini as a learning assistant for students working through coursework and study sessions. Users can now build interactive tools and simulations directly through Google Search to help understand complex topics, such as requesting an AI-generated chart on the pH scale and asking follow-up questions for further detail. Students can also reach practice quizzes through direct searches across subjects including science, mathematics, social studies and languages. Google faces competition in education from OpenAI and newer AI learning startups such as GoEthic and Knowt, which offer their own AI-assisted study tools.
