Iraq's security adviser, Sudani discuss consolidating state monopoly on arms

BAGHDAD, Iraq — National Security Adviser Qasim al-Araji met on Monday with Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, leader of the Reconstruction and Development Coalition, to discuss consolidating the principle that weapons must remain under the exclusive control of the state. According to a written statement from al-Araji's office, the two officials reviewed security and political developments in Iraq along with strategic files. They examined mechanisms to strengthen internal stability and ensure that security forces uphold the rule of law across all of the country's territory. The meeting also addressed the need to maintain coordination between political forces and security institutions, the statement said.
