Iraq's new central bank governor takes over as wheat deliveries top 152,000 tons in Diyala

BAGHDAD, Iraq — Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Falih al-Zeydi presided over a handover ceremony at the Central Bank where Nizar Nasser Hussein took over as governor from Ali Mohsin al-Allak, according to a statement from the prime minister's press office. Al-Zeydi stressed the need to continue banking reform programs, safeguard financial stability and accelerate efforts to create an investment-friendly economic environment. The prime minister also called for advancing digital transformation and aligning financial policies with international standards. He praised al-Allak's efforts during his tenure and announced that al-Allak had been appointed as an economic adviser to the prime minister. Separately, Diyala province has completed its wheat purchase season, with more than 152,000 tons of produce delivered, according to local authorities.
