BAGHDAD, Iraq โ Iraq's General Directorate of Meteorology said hot and sunny conditions will persist across the country, with temperatures expected to remain close to levels recorded the previous day. The agency said daytime hours, particularly around midday, would be hot to very hot, while nights are forecast to be relatively milder.
Officials advised outdoor workers, the elderly and people with chronic illnesses to avoid direct sun exposure during midday hours, drink sufficient water and seek shaded areas. The directorate linked the ongoing heat wave to a seasonal low-pressure system typical for this period of the year, which it said would keep temperatures elevated in the coming days.
The agency also said it is monitoring air quality for dust and sand transport, noting that light dust concentrations may appear in some parts of cities. It added that regular updates on temperature changes and possible weather developments will be issued in the days ahead.
