Iraq's Interior Ministry names new directors for energy police and federal security

BAGHDAD, Iraq — Iraq's Interior Ministry on Sunday carried out a series of senior security appointments, according to security sources. Maj. Gen. Hamed al-Hasani was named director general of the Energy Police Directorate, while Maj. Gen. Saleh al-Amiri was appointed deputy director general of the Federal Security Affairs Directorate. The reshuffle places al-Hasani in charge of units responsible for protecting oil and energy facilities, while al-Amiri will serve in his new role at the Federal Security Affairs Directorate. The ministry did not immediately publish an official statement on the changes. The appointments form part of an ongoing rotation and administrative reform process aimed at improving security performance across state military and executive institutions and reducing bureaucracy, the sources said.
