Iraq's cosmetics imports surpass $184 million in 2025, analyst says

BAGHDAD, Iraq — Iraq spent more than $184 million on imports of cosmetics, makeup and skincare products in 2025, according to financial analyst Ali Karim Izhb of the Tigris Strategic Planning Center. Izhb cited Trade Map data from the International Trade Centre, which is based on UN Comtrade statistics, showing that Iraqi imports under the HS 3304 customs tariff classification reached approximately $184.092 million in 2025. The category covers cosmetics, makeup and skincare products for men and women, including sunscreen and tanning preparations as well as manicure and pedicure products. The import value marked a 25 percent increase from 2024, indicating an expanding cosmetics and personal care market in Iraq, Izhb said. He added that Iraq accounts for roughly 0.2 percent of global imports in this product group, ranking 57th among importing countries worldwide. Izhb noted that the figures partly reflect the scale of domestic demand for consumer goods that are not produced locally.
