Iraq reassigns senior commanders at Interior Ministry and Federal Police

BAGHDAD, Iraq — Iraq carried out a wide-ranging reshuffle of senior commanders within the Interior Ministry and the Federal Police, security sources said. The moves are part of a broader reorganization of command terms and new appointments across the security forces. Under the changes, Maj. Gen. Ahmed al-Asadi was transferred from the Federal Police Samarra area command to the Interior Ministry's Office of the Chief of Staff. Brig. Gen. Jaafar al-Sudani moved from the Fifth Division command of the Federal Police to the Samarra area command. Brig. Gen. Ali Kazim Nasif was reassigned from the Special Tasks Brigade to the First Division command of the Federal Police. Brig. Gen. Fadhil al-Khuzaei was moved from the Law Enforcement command to the Second Division command, while Brig. Gen. Murtada Abdulsattar was transferred from the Second Mechanized Brigade to the Fifth Division command. The security sources said the reassignments were carried out as part of an ongoing renewal of leadership within Iraq's security institutions. No further details were immediately available.
