Iraq has finalized all technical and administrative preparations to manage a potential flood wave originating from Syria, according to Minister of Water Resources Mutanna al-Tamimi. The minister confirmed that current data indicates the water levels will remain within safe, manageable limits. Water flow reaching the Iraqi border is currently measured at 700 cubic meters per second, a volume deemed acceptable by authorities. Officials do not anticipate any significant flood risks based on the latest hydrological data provided by Syrian counterparts. This influx of water is expected to bolster national reserves, marking a significant improvement over the low storage levels recorded in previous years. The ministry aims to utilize this volume to secure water supplies and support agricultural and operational plans for the upcoming summer season. Iraqi authorities are maintaining continuous coordination with Syrian officials to monitor the situation. Domestically, the Ministry of Water Resources is working in close cooperation with the Anbar provincial administration and local security forces to ensure infrastructure readiness. The Syrian Ministry of Energy previously issued a precautionary warning to residents along the Euphrates River regarding the potential for sudden flooding. Iraqi officials remain on alert to manage the flow through the Haditha Dam as the wave progresses.
