BAGHDAD, Iraq โ€” Iraq's parliamentary Finance Committee said public-sector salaries for June will be distributed on schedule, with no delays expected. Committee Vice Chair Ihlas al-Dulaimi said the government has resumed exporting roughly 2 million barrels of oil per day, with companies handling the shipments receiving a set share of the proceeds. Al-Dulaimi said the Central Bank and the Ministry of Finance are conducting joint work on the issue and that the financial picture has shown improvement. He added that the three-year budget has consumed substantial financial resources and that correcting the country's economic situation will take time. The prime minister is working to steer Iraq's economy to a more sustainable position over the long term, al-Dulaimi said. He did not specify further details of those plans. On personnel matters, al-Dulaimi said it remains undecided whether new appointments will be included in the next budget, with work still ongoing.
