Iraq oil minister says fuel supply secured for Ashura visitors in Karbala

BAGHDAD, Iraq — Iraq's Oil Minister Basim Mohammed Khudayr said on Friday that fuel products have been supplied to visitors and service convoys in Karbala for the Ashura pilgrimage. Speaking on June 26, 2026, Khudayr said all units under the ministry have been working around the clock in the province to meet the needs of pilgrims. The minister described Ashura as a day that recalls the values of selflessness and sacrifice, and extended condolences to the government and religious authorities. He said the ministry's role goes beyond fuel supply, with additional services aimed at improving comfort for citizens during the pilgrimage. Khudayr also praised the Karbala local administration for its efforts in managing and organizing the visit. He thanked Prime Minister Fallah al-Zaydi for the government's support in meeting fuel-product requirements for the pilgrimage.
