BAGHDAD, Iraq โ€” Lawmakers and legal experts in Iraq are calling for corruption cases tied to the Oil Ministry to be expanded beyond officials already facing judicial proceedings to include every individual named in the files. Among the figures drawing renewed attention is a person referred to in the "Una Oil" case only by the initials "A.T," political sources said. According to those sources, investigators are examining links between "A.T" and former Oil Minister Adnan al-Jumaili, the figure's relationship with former U.S. representative Marc Sawaya, and the movements of two brothers along an Amman-Baghdad route. The sources also said Kahtan al-Shaalan acted as an intermediary between "A.T" and al-Jumaili, with some circles describing al-Shaalan as al-Jumaili's "black box." Legal experts said the Commission on Integrity and judicial authorities should broaden their inquiry to cover the named figures, emphasizing that the authority to deliver a final verdict rests with the independent judiciary. No further details on the status of the expanded investigation were immediately available.
