Iraq Meteorology Center Forecasts Temperatures Reaching 44°C in Basra

BAGHDAD, Iraq — The Iraqi Meteorological Organization released its latest weather forecast on Thursday, projecting a slight drop in temperatures for Thursday before conditions stabilize through the weekend. Northwest winds are expected to reach 40 kilometers per hour, primarily affecting the eastern parts of central and southern regions, and may cause light dust transport, the organization stated. Regional temperatures on Friday are forecast to range from 35°C in Dohuk and Sulaymaniyah to 44°C in Basra. Baghdad, Salahuddin and Diyala are expected to see highs of 40°C, while Dhi Qar is forecast to reach 43°C. Temperatures in central and southern regions are expected to rise by a few degrees on Saturday, when partly cloudy conditions are anticipated in northern areas. Clear skies and stable temperatures are forecast to continue through Monday.
