Iraq rolls out sugar e-branch service nationwide across food ration outlets

BAGHDAD, Iraq โ Iraq's Ministry of Trade has launched its sugar e-branch service across all food ration card outlets in the country, including the capital Baghdad, the ministry said. The system allows citizens to handle transactions electronically at the branches.
According to the ministry's press office, the service was most recently activated in Nineveh, Kirkuk, Sulaymaniyah, Erbil, Halabja, Basra, Dhi Qar, Maysan, Diwaniyah, Muthanna, Saladin, Anbar and Balad. It had previously been rolled out at all Baghdad branches as well as in Wasit, Duhok, Babil and Diyala.
Talib Hasan Nima, the ministry's director general of the planning and follow-up department, said the rollout makes the sugar e-branch service accessible at every food ration card outlet nationwide. He said the work was carried out under the ministry's digital transformation goals.
The ministry said the system is intended to speed up transactions for citizens through electronic platforms. No further operational details were immediately available.
