Iraq Forecasts Temperatures Up to 45°C This Weekend

BAGHDAD, Iraq — The Iraqi Meteorological Office forecast temperatures reaching 45 degrees Celsius in southern provinces this weekend, with the central and southern regions experiencing the most intense heat. Saturday's forecast predicted clear skies across most of the country and light to moderate winds from the northwest. Maximum temperatures will range from 35°C in Dohuk to 45°C in Basra and Dhi Qar. Baghdad and surrounding central provinces are expected to see temperatures around 42°C, while northern areas will remain comparatively cooler, with Erbil at 37°C and Sulaymaniyah at 36°C. On Sunday, central and southern regions will see continued clear and partly cloudy conditions. Northern areas can expect partly cloudy skies with a chance of rain and thunder in some locations. The meteorological office projected clear weather to persist through Monday and Tuesday across the entire country.
