Iraq Falls Behind Neighbours in 2025 Global Happiness Ranking

BAGHDAD, Iraq — Iraq scored 4.98 points in the 2025 Global Happiness Ranking, placing it behind several countries in the region. Kuwait scored 6.63, Saudi Arabia 6.60 and the United Arab Emirates 6.76, all ahead of Iraq. Jordan scored 4.31, while Lebanon received 3.19 points. At the top of the list was Finland with 7.74 points, and Denmark and Iceland shared second place on 7.52. Sweden, the Netherlands, Norway, Switzerland and Australia also ranked among the top 10. The index is based on factors including per capita income, social support, life expectancy, individual freedoms, corruption levels and social trust.
