Iraq FA Chief Dharjal Says He Will Accept Election Results

Iraq Football Association President Adnan Dharjal said in a press conference in Baghdad that he will not contest the election results and will congratulate the winners. He said the move reflects a commitment to stability in Iraqi football as the federation prepares for its next stage. Dharjal said the association had put forward strategies to develop football, but that those efforts had sometimes faced obstacles. He stressed that not all of the projects were his own and said they had been carried out within a genuine partnership framework. He said success requires cooperation from everyone involved in the sport. Dharjal added that the federation plans to establish a football centre that will be the largest in the region. He said the project will be supported in a later stage with the approval of the prime minister. Dharjal also said that if they fail in the coming period, they will not be worthy of managing Iraqi football.
