BAGHDAD, Iraq โ Iraq exported an average of 233,000 barrels per day of crude oil via the Kirkuk and Kurdistan Region of Iraq pipeline in May, maintaining total export levels at April volumes, economist Nabil El-Marsumi reported.
About 20,000 barrels of that volume came from KRI fields, with the remainder sourced from Kirkuk and fields in northern and central Iraq. Total additional exports reached 329,000 barrels per day, according to El-Marsumi's figures.
Oil Minister Iyman Muhammad Hudayr said regional tensions have negatively affected sea transport, causing a significant decline in the country's export capacity. The minister noted that monthly exports, which stood at 93 million barrels before the crisis, dropped to approximately 10 million barrels in April.
