BAGHDAD, Iraq โ Iraq's General Directorate of Customs has begun a staff rotation program and taken delivery of sonar devices in line with directives from Prime Minister and Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief Ali Falih al-Zaydi, the directorate said in a statement.
Under the rotation plan, customs employees will be reassigned across customs centers based on operational needs, performance criteria and the actual requirements of each location. The directorate said the step is intended to strengthen oversight systems, support field operations and expand the sharing of experience among staff.
Technical teams have also been dispatched to collect recovered sonar devices, which will be used to upgrade the technical readiness of customs centers, according to the statement. The directorate added that the role of inspection and discovery committees will be reinforced, coordination between relevant units will be increased, and modern technical tools will be deployed in inspection processes.
The customs authority said the measures are aimed at supporting economic security, protecting public property and embedding a modern management approach across customs centers. No further details on the timeline or scope of the rotation were immediately available.
