MOSUL, Iraq โ River police in Nineveh province recovered the body of a young man from the Tigris River bed in eastern Mosul, a police source said. The body was located near the Yarmajah area following eight days of search operations in the Badush district.
The source said it has not yet been confirmed whether the body belongs to a young man who drowned in the area eight days ago. The father of the missing man has suggested the recovered remains may not be those of his son, and identification efforts are continuing.
Police said prolonged exposure to water may have altered the body's facial features, prompting careful forensic work. The remains were transferred to a forensic medicine institution for identification and an autopsy.
Investigations are ongoing to clarify the circumstances of the case, according to the source.
