Sudani says US-Iran agreement validates Iraq's dialogue-based approach

SULAYMANIYAH, Iraq — Mohammed Shia' al-Sudani, head of the Iraq Reconstruction and Development Alliance, said a recent agreement between the United States and Iran represents a meaningful step toward reducing tensions and strengthening stability in the region. Speaking from the alliance's Sulaymaniyah headquarters, Sudani said the deal paves the way for a comprehensive settlement between the two sides. Sudani said Iraq has consistently backed dialogue and diplomacy since the conflict began, adding that the latest understanding confirms the correctness of that position. He noted that the tensions have affected not only the direct parties but also regional countries, with Iraq bearing heavy consequences in security and economic terms. Stressing that any move to ease tension delivers shared gains in stability and development across the region, Sudani called on both sides to sustain the current understanding and reinforce diplomatic channels.
