BAGHDAD, Iraq โ€” Iraq's Civil Aviation Authority said work is ongoing to complete the technical and administrative requirements needed to open Mosul International Airport. The authority said field visits and assessments are being carried out by technical teams in coordination with Nineveh Province's administration and other relevant bodies. All procedures are being conducted in line with existing Iraqi law and standards set by the International Civil Aviation Organization, the statement said. The authority emphasized that civil aviation safety requirements remain a non-negotiable priority. Operating permits will only be granted once all technical and legal conditions are satisfied, according to the statement. Official correspondence dated January 22 and May 3 of this year requested necessary approvals from several countries and competent authorities, including bodies in Saudi Arabia, though the requested permits have not yet been obtained. No further timeline for the airport's reopening was provided.
