Iraq is set to experience a shift in weather patterns on Friday as atmospheric instability brings cooler temperatures and widespread rainfall across the country. Meteorological models indicate the formation of cumulonimbus clouds, with thunderstorms expected to impact various regions in the central and northern provinces starting overnight.
Following a recent period of intense heat, temperatures are forecast to decline gradually. While central, western, and northern cities will see relatively mild conditions, southern provinces are expected to maintain higher, though manageable, temperature levels.
Increased northwesterly winds, reaching speeds of up to 60 kilometers per hour, are anticipated to accompany the weather front. These winds pose a risk of dust and sandstorms, particularly in the desert regions of the central and southern governorates, which may significantly reduce horizontal visibility.
Authorities have issued safety warnings for motorists traveling on intercity highways to exercise caution during the period of reduced visibility. Individuals with respiratory conditions are also advised to take necessary precautions to mitigate the impact of airborne dust.
