Iraq Bar Association head praises Supreme Judicial Council decisions

BAGHDAD, Iraq — The head of the Iraq Bar Association, Ahlam Lami, thanked Supreme Judicial Council President Faiq Zidan and council members for their cooperation on matters affecting lawyers. In a statement, Lami said she expressed her appreciation during the council's ninth session on Thursday. Lami welcomed the council's directive to judges to work in coordination with lawyers, as well as its decision to drop complaints filed against lawyers within the scope of the council's mandate on the occasion of Lawyers' Day. The statement said the decisions reflected the depth of cooperation between the judiciary and the bar association. Lami said the steps strengthen lawyers' standing as essential partners in achieving justice and upholding the rule of law. The statement added that continued dialogue between the two bodies would benefit professional work.
