BAGHDAD, Iraq โ The head of Iraq's Border Ports Authority conducted a field inspection of two control points near Kirkuk on routes toward Sulaymaniyah and Erbil, directing staff to streamline procedures and reduce bureaucratic delays while maintaining regulatory oversight.
Authority Chairman Omar al-Weyli met with drivers, citizens and checkpoint personnel to assess passenger and cargo traffic operations. He instructed all units to simplify procedures and emphasized that commercial flow and inter-city transit should be accelerated while preserving legal and supervisory requirements.
Al-Weyli also called for improved coordination between security and service agencies and stressed the importance of fair treatment for citizens and drivers. The authority said field visits will continue to monitor performance and address obstacles directly.
The government program aims to strengthen economic security, improve the work environment and increase non-oil revenues, according to al-Weyli.
