BAGHDAD, Iraq โ Iraq's Counter-Terrorism Service said Tuesday that three suspected militants had been arrested in coordinated operations across three provinces. The agency said in a statement that the operations were carried out simultaneously based on intelligence and covered different parts of the country.
According to the statement, one of those detained in Sulaymaniyah was described as one of the most dangerous figures known as the "General Bombing Commander" in Saladin province. He was apprehended in the Sorani district through joint work with Asayish forces, the Counter-Terrorism Service said.
Two other suspects were arrested in Anbar and Mosul, the agency added. Separately, security forces searched for ISIS hideouts and shelter remnants in the Wadi Zegitun area of Kirkuk province. The Counter-Terrorism Service did not provide further details on the identities of those detained or the outcome of the searches in its statement.
