BAGHDAD, Iraq โ Iraq's National Security Advisory detained former Saladin governor and former Saladin health director Raed al-Juburi on June 23, 2026, on charges of supporting and affiliating with terrorist organizations, the advisory said.
The detention order was issued based on the confessions of Ahmed al-Jumayli, who has been convicted in terrorism cases, according to the advisory. Al-Juburi faces accusations of providing support to and maintaining links with terrorist groups as part of an ongoing investigation.
The case has been referred to the judicial authorities and is proceeding under judicial oversight, the advisory said. Officials said the investigation is being conducted under confidentiality rules and that the public will be informed of developments.
Al-Juburi left the governorship of Saladin in 2017 and subsequently served as the province's health director. The arrest comes amid a broader pattern of legal action against former senior officials in Iraq.
