TEHRAN, Iran โ€” Iran's Strait of Hormuz Administration said vessels that support ships violating transit rules in the strait will be added to the violators list and face fines, detention or seizure on future passages. In a statement carried by the Fars news agency, the administration asked cargo owners traveling to or from the Persian Gulf to check the updated violators list before chartering ships. It said any vessel that cooperates with listed ships through ship-to-ship transfers, transit or other methods will be placed on the same list, and that vessels seeking removal must apply with the necessary documentation. The warning came the same day US Central Command said 70 commercial vessels had been forced to reroute since the US began reimposing its blockade of Iran. The US and Iran have announced two ceasefire agreements, in April and June, aimed at restoring freedom of navigation in the strait after roughly six months of confrontation, though both deals collapsed shortly after being announced. No further details were immediately available on how the new enforcement measures would be implemented.
